Evan's hometown is Ottawa. He attends Brock University in St. Catharines where he trains with the Brock Wrestling Club coached by Marty Calder. Only two years out of Junior competition, Evan finished 8th at his first Senior World Championship in 2003 and earned an Olympic quota position for Canada which he later claimed at the Olympic Trials. Since turning Senior in 2002 he has had a bronze medal finish at the 2002 Canada Cup, a gold medal at the 2004 Acropolis tournament and a 4th place finish at the 2004 German Grand Prix. His National Championship results include a 2003 Senior National Championship gold medal, a 2002 Senior Nationals silver medal and a 2001 Junior Nationals silver medal.
