Guivi is a native of Tblisi, Georgia who moved to Montreal in the early 1990s and has represented Canada with distinction since 1993. Working with the Montreal Wrestling Club coaching staff of Victor Zilberman and Robert Moore he has been a World or Olympic medalist on four occasions including 2001 World Champion. His World and Olympic medals also include a silver medal at both the 1995 World Championships and 1996 Olympic Games and a bronze medal at the 1997 World Championships. Guivi was the gold medalist at the 1999 Pan American Games and was second at the 2003 Games. Last month he won the prestigious German Grand Prix and showed the form that has made him a contender in any competition he enters. At the national level he has won the Senior National Championship in nine of the past eleven years.
